E CUMBRAE ROADRACE
Big Stevie Hazlett flashed over the finish line at the West Bay in Millport having won the race 2 event from Bill Totten ,Nightingale in an easy sprint finish.stevie was ina class of hisown. Astride his 27inch steed his took off on the second ferry road lap never to be seen again. William McMillan, a faded star from the CRT Inverclyde. The oncoming beat of the Harley engine haed us ready for an exciting sprint finish. Hugh Jamieson had punctured however he chased for a full lap and in an overpowering effort he made the group again. Having made up the lost minutes during a wheel change. Gibson took it from the front although Brian Loye was not out of touch at the line. Jim Cusick held third place edging out Turbo Torrance and the unfortunate Hugh Jamieson. Anyone who thought the race was the most excitement they had ever seen, obviously missed the warm in the main hall when Gentleman Jim Cusick massaged young Kerry Lang in a liberal coating of warmed up baby oil. Kerry ended up skidding about like chip. This sensual act did little for her cycling performance although the pensioners in the hall enjoyed it. Paul McDonald (Johnstone Wheelers) displayed an accurate and graphic description relating to work effort from the others in the race group, How come Paul always looks immaculate, never any bogey stains or even snot. Sean Gray finished next with one of the notorious Anderson Brothers.

THE BOOMERANG TROPHY TEAM TIME TRIAL 6TH MAY 2009
only the the brave would have considered this mid wek adventure at Thornhill. The rain had fallen for three days and by the event start it was similar to a Sunami. Wading through the stream and the loch water to the Thornhill registration my bleary eyes fell upon a cyclist wearing swimming goggles and scuba wet suit. Well! Tam Gordon was never one to miss an opportunity. We knew this was going to be a serious affair as David Gibson guided his palatial V12 Turbo towards the car park. Easing from the front arm chair of his car he depressed the button and the rear door slowly opened revealing his new Dooleycolour co-ordinated bike. The new Dooleyrace gear looks suspiciously like Glasgow Rangers colours.. His race partner Bob Taylor has long fantasized about winning this trophy. For years he has been the'nearly man'. Alas the pre planned attack for thetrophy was of no avai, Bob only had to remain fixed behind Davie Gibson hich he did. The homeward leg wastough was rain and wind. Observers who were stationed on the mooring pontoon oberved theobvious speed at which Hugh Jamieson and Tam Gordon passed along thecourse. The wearing of Tams swimming goggles did little to slow him down. Graemw Cockburn and Jeremy Greengrass were obviously challenging with their supreeme effort taking second place only 9 seconds adrift at thefinish. Sean Gray actually completed thecourase on his own. The well read amongst you will remember that Ian Brady was the invisible man who once worked for the old SCU at the porta cabin in Edinburgh. Every single competitor deserved an award for the sheer effort and physical endurance that was in abundance on the night. Last team back was Wendy and Lara Gorman, thispair in their first ever race said they would rather have spent anight in Saddam Husseins prison. Welldone everyoneb also the many supporters who aided with the marshalling on the night.
AT LONG LAST A TROPHY WIN FOR BOB TAYLOR 63, the only standard plus on the night. Great ffort from his team mate David AwesomeGibson.
